Healthplex 2019 Event Wrap Up - Australia's most successful Healthplex ever!

Last month, CMA hosted our second Australian Pavilion at Healthplex 2019 – the most popularly-attended nutraceuticals and health food event in Asia Pacific. The Australian Pavilion was the largest international pavilion at the expo, with 18 leading Australian complementary medicines brands and over 100 delegates attending Healthplex.

Healthplex is a three-day expo, organised with the assistance of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and Shanghai UMB Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd. Its purpose is to showcase cutting edge, high-quality products to stakeholders and discerning consumers in China.

This year, Healthplex also celebrated its 10th anniversary, and because of this, the line-up of events was bigger and better than past years.

Australia: now China's major nutraceutical and health food products trading partner!

Monday 17 June

In the lead up to Healthplex, we were delighted to take part in the China International Nutrition and Health Industry Summit, organised by our friends, the Health Products Association – China.

The agenda boasted 12 expert speakers covering a range of subjects including the latest in China’s supplement and ingredient regulations, cross-border e-commerce, WeChat and social media, consumer trends, market environment, import/export statistics as well as updates on the omega-3 and probiotics industries.

Mr Zhang Zhongpeng, Director of the Health and Nutrition Department of CCCMHPIE, reported on Australia's incredible achievement in becoming China's major trading partner for nutraceuticals and health food products, thanks in part to Australian brands capitalising on the new policy for cross-border e-commerce.

Our Australian Pavilion was the busiest and most popular pavilion during the whole three-day event. Many Australian Pavilion exhibitors had a full schedule of meetings with various international stakeholders, while welcoming expo visitors, including buyers and local health conscious-consumers who are seeking Australia’s highest-quality complementary medicines.

The busiest and most popular in the pavilion!

Brand Australia was delivered in robust and authentic colours. The strong message delivered throughout was that Australia manufactures complementary medicines to the highest global, pharmaceutical grade standards. Our worldwide reputation for quality and safety is one explanation as to why Australian products are the most sought after choice for discerning, health-conscious consumers in China.

This year’s Australian Pavilion was three times bigger than 2018. The iconic symbol of the Sydney Opera House and the Australian Made logo stood out from any angle visitors viewed the pavilion from, becoming the perfect representation of Australia’s status as the number one importer into China of nutrition and health food products! The coffee counter in the middle of the Pavilion also brought a comfortable space for our industry friends to gather for a catch up over coffee.

Proudly Australian!

Our Pavilion exhibitors also had the opportunity to attend the 6th Nutraceutical Industry Development Conference to learn the latest about regulations, cross-border e-commerce, WeChat social media, consumer trends, and the market environment in China. At the Conference, CMA’s President, Paul Mannion gave a presentation on the latest trends and opportunities in the Australian Complementary Medicines Industry to attendees.

CMA President, Paul Mannion gave a welcome speech on behalf of our industry.

At the dinner, four companies from the Australian Pavilion and, proud CMA members, won awards for the “Top five Nutrition and Health Products Import Brands”. Big congratulations to Swisse, Melrose Health, Integria Healthcare, and Nutrition Care!
