    The TGA have advised that the ingredient name Astragalus membranaceous will not be changing to Astragalus mongholicus as previously enacted in June. More information here.

    The TGA have announced group reviews of products that have claims based on traditional evidence, as well as gummy nutritional supplements. They have published outcomes on biomarker and sunscreen products. More information here.

    The TGA has released the new 2018 Advertising Code due for commencement on 1 January 2019, as well as transition arrangements, and a web hub with extended information for consumers and advertisers.

    The TGA is also calling for applications from scientific and consumer experts to fill vacancies on technical Statutory Committees.

    The TGA has been assessing submissions to the consultation on the draft 2018 Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and making changes accordingly, including many that are in accordance with the submissions from Complementary Medicines Australia and member companies.

    The TGA has published an update to the medicine labelling guidance, ‘Medicine labels: Guidance on TGO 91 and TGO 92’, on the TGA website. This version 1.1 of the guidance is the second version and replaces version 1.0 that was published in August 2016.
