CMA Guideline for the Sale and Supply of Practitioner Only Products: Edition 2  (May 2016)

The objective of the Guideline for the Sale and Supply of Practitioner Only Products is to provide guidance to the complementary medicines industry on the appropriate content of Practitioner Only (POP) product guides and technical manuals to comply with the provisions in the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 ("the Act"), the Therapeutic Goods Regulations 1990 ("the Regulations"), and the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code 2015 (TGAC), as amended from time to time.

The guideline was originally developed in 2011 and CMA called for comments about the document and or suggest advice for additional guidance to be included in 2015. Based on members’ feedback, the Practitioner Medicine Technical Committee (PMTC) conducted a review of this guideline to ensure that the document is user-friendly and the advice remains current best practice. Amendments were made in order to update the document in line with the new name of CMA, other practitioner associations’ policies, and updates to TGA guidance material etc.
